SafetyO's is an adhesive thumb ring which is attachable to a syringe plunger to facilitate one-handed aspiration prior to dermal filler injection for the prevention of vascular occlusion. In executing the injection of dermal filler under the skin using a syringe, the operator of the syringe must be careful to avoid injecting the filler material into a blood vessel under the skin, as it could clog the blood vessel (i.e. cause vascular occlusion) and cause necrosis of the skin. Furthermore, if a substance is injected into a blood vessel, an adverse reaction may result in the patient. In order to prevent a vascular occlusion, syringe operators typically insert the syringe needle into the skin and carry out a checking procedure, ASPIRATION, before injecting the dermal filler material to ensure that the needle has not been inserted into a blood vessel. The checking procedure consists of pulling on the syringe plunger with one hand while holding the syringe barrel with the other hand. if the pulling of the plunger caused entry of blood into the syringe barrel, it may be concluded that the needle has been inserted into a blood vessel, and therefore, needs to be repositioned. On the other hand, if blood does not enter the syringe barrel, it may be concluded that the needle is correctly placed, and thus the syringe operator can proceed with injecting the filler into the skin without the risk of clogging the blood vessel. Conventional syringes which are used to inject dermal fillers into skin are typically difficult to operate. These syringes require a clumsy, two-handed technique for operation, and more particularly to carry out the checking procedure described heretofore. Moreover, the needle tip can become displaced during execution of the pulling and pushing process described above. Patient discomfort increases with clumsy needle movement. Additionally, the two-handed technique prolongs the time which is required to complete the procedure. SafetyO's facilitates rapid one-handed aspiration prior to injection of dermal filler under skin in cosmetic remediation application, and more particularly helps to reduce the risk of causing vascular occlusion and dermal necrosis.
Avoidance of injecting dermal filler into a blood vessel is of optimal importance during the skillful placement. Vascular occlusion is a serious adverse affect of dermal filler injections when the thick dermal filler material inadvertently is placed into a blood vessel, thus blocking the area supplied with blood, leading to rapid tissue necrosis.
Provide your patients the highest Standard of Care in the prevention of adverse reactions. the most severe adverse reaction is a vascular occlusion with devastating affects on your patient. SafetyO's facilitates rapid one-handed aspiration prior to injection of dermal fillers and is the most important step in the management of vascular occlusion prevention. Prevention is the best medicine.
